My ambition

Well, so this is me, Marco from Zurich, Switzerland. I had occupied a desk for about four years when I came to the point where I wanted to escape the urban race for a while and live a little. My plan was to go to Latin America, which is my favorite spot on earth. However, I don't know that many other spots, so I wanted to make sure that I am right on this. Hence, I decided to go the other way around the globe, and first travel through Asia.

My mode of traveling is "seeking adventures". This means I am avoiding the typical tourist trails and am looking for experiences off the beaten track. So far I have had two exciting adventures in a bit more than two months:

1. Riding a motorbike through Vietnam, 2500 kilometres from Saigon to Ha Noi. I beat the chaotic traffic in the metropolis, followed bumpy roads through the mountains and drove through dense, jungly national parks along the notorious Ho Chi Minh trail:  link

2. Paddling down on the Mekong river in Laos from Luang Prabang to Vientiane (460 kilometres) on a local long tail boat. The journey took me right into the wild and the river was most challenging at times. We came through isolated minority villages, passed the gigantic and highly controversial Xayaburi dam and floated further down through dense and uninhabited jungle: link

I am currently planning my next adventures, so stay tuned and there will be news soon.

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
